Facebook turned on its “Safety Check” feature for the first time in the U.S. in the wake of the Orlando shooting in which 50 people were killed in a nightclub by a gunman.
The feature allows people to use the social networking site or app to notify people that they are safe in the wake of a crisis or disaster. Users can check to see if friends are safe. When a person selects the option to say “I’m safe,” friends will be notified. Read more…
