Proposed legislation in Congress seeks to reduce identity theft by eliminating distribution of Social Security numbers. Not on the computer, but on a small piece of paper carried by millions of people: the Medicare card.
The legislation, introduced on Monday by Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, the New York Democrat, seeks to prohibit display of Social Security numbers on such cards. The senator said use of such cards leaves millions of elderly people susceptible to identity theft. http://t.co/SXrG9OO
